The first NOTaS Lunch Lecture of 2025 will be given by Golshid Shekoufandeh, a PhD student at the University of Amsterdam.
In her lecture she will show the efforts to improve Dutch Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems for a wide range of speakers. By fine-tuning the Whisper using the JASMIN-CGN corpus, the study examines how factors like age and linguistic background affect performance. The findings emphasize the importance of creating inclusive technologies that address linguistic and demographic diversity, aiming for more accessible and fair ASR systems.
